Brian was born and raised in a small town in southern Ontario. His fondness for nature and wildlife was apparent at an early age and led him to study environmental sciences in university. After graduating in 1997 he moved to Banff, Alberta to pursue an interest in outdoor adventure sports. Activities such as hiking, climbing, skiing, ice climbing and camping provided him with access to some of the most beautiful areas in the Rocky Mountains, and the opportunity for incredible photography quickly presented itself.

He began taking photos immediately upon his arrival in Banff with a point and shoot camera which was given to him as a graduation gift from his parents. It was this camera (his first) that ignited his passion for photography.

Brian has developed his technique over the years through trial and error. He has had no formal training and relies primarily on research and observation as his source of photographic knowledge.

Photography has consumed my life from the moment I discovered that I could capture a moment in time, which was somehow special to me. It allows me the opportunity to share with people my view of the beauty which surrounds us. I enjoy showing people elements of nature that they have never seen before and I especially enjoy showing them what they may see every day, but from a unique perspective, which makes it extraordinary.

I hope that my photography helps convince people to slow down and really look closely at their environment. Beauty can be found in the most peculiar places, but only if you allow yourself the time to look for it.
